Therapist at Wellbeing Practice – MBACP Registered

Anna Powney is an experienced integrative counsellor at Wellbeing Practice, offering thoughtful and compassionate support to children (aged 8+), young people, and adults.

She brings warmth, professionalism, and genuine care to her work, creating a safe and welcoming space where clients feel accepted and understood, whatever they may be going through.

Anna knows that reaching out for help isn’t always easy. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, lost, or simply need someone to talk to, she will meet you with empathy and respect, taking time to understand your world. Her approach is client-led and flexible, always moving at your pace and shaped by your unique needs.

She has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those who are autistic, ADHD, or who experience the world in ways that don’t fit typical patterns. Anna works in a neurodiversity-informed way, meaning she doesn’t view difference as deficit. Instead, she recognises and respects the many valid ways people think, feel, relate, and communicate.

She offers a therapeutic space that is sensitive to sensory and communication needs, values authenticity over masking, and adapts her approach to support comfort and clarity.

Anna’s counselling work is enriched by a range of therapeutic models, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Her experience includes extensive work as a school-based counsellor, where she has supported children and young people with a variety of emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges.

When appropriate, she works systemically, offering guidance to parents, carers, or schools to help build a consistent, supportive network around the client.

Clients often describe Anna as kind, steady, and easy to talk to. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, self-esteem difficulties, identity questions, or simply looking for space to understand yourself better, Anna offers a calm, confidential environment in which to explore and grow.

She holds an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, alongside further training in IFS, CBT, and ACT.

Anna is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), enhanced DBS-checked, GDPR compliant, and trained in safeguarding.

She is committed to ongoing professional development and works in a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming way.
